During the ceremonies, both the junior high and high school squads and their coaches/directors were individually introduced. SCIO – Hundreds of school-bound kids and their parents turned out for the Back To School Rally at Harrison North Elementary on August 18, 2010.

The crowd enjoyed free food, music, inflatable rides and information provided by area organizations at Barr Memorial Gym. Domino’s Pizza, beverages and popcorn were offered for the three-hour fete, while DJ Richie D spun tunes for the crowd.

Pam Parrish, one of the organizers, said about 15 vendors from the Harrison Hills City School District, healthcare, education and social services were also involved as part of the Family Fun Fair.

All three Harrison Central High School football teams saw preseason action during a scrimmage against the Braves of Indian Valley. The following pictures are from these scrimmages. Kaiser and Mallernee key on defense

WHEELING ISLAND – This past Sunday July 25,the 65th Annual Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Charity Football Classic produced a more than favorable outcome for Ohio fans, as the Mountaineers defeated the Buckeyes by a score of 24-14.

The Mountaineers win broke a run by the Buckeyes, ending a five-year winning streak that started in 2004.

For Ohio, two former Harrison Central football players helped anchor the sound defense. Cody Kaiser and Jake Mallernee was key on defense throughout the game, with Kaiser at defensive end and special teams and Mallernee at nose guard. The two Huskies saw plenty of playing time, as they helped keep the Mountaineers in check throughout the evening.

CADIZ – On June 14 the Carriage Inn of Cadiz hosted their Fourth Annual Flag Day Ceremonies. Along with the regular ceremonies, fourteen residents were recognized and honored for their patriotic contributions, while in service to the Country. “We have 13 veterans residents here at the Carriage Inn,” said activities director, Barb Elliott. “Our flag raising ceremony is something that we have done for four years and we intend on continuing this practice each year,” she added.

Those veterans recognized during the flag raising ceremonies were: Donald Rose, Adrian Worrell, Tony Forte, Brian Hamilton, James Zenda, George Bartolivic, Ben Glover, Charles Williams, Stanton Kellar, Danny Lushbaugh, Roger Derin, Paul Kelly and Tom Yoho.

Also in attendance at the flag raising ceremonies were the honor guard from Cadiz Post 34 of the American Legion and Sergeants Joe and Ricky Thomas of the 1485th Army National Guard. The ceremonies included a military salute and a pledge of allegiance to the flag by the guests.

Performing and providing music for the ceremonies was Jean Shock.
