Harrison County Sheriff Joe Myers led the first in a series of potential monthly safety meetings with more than 30 company, government and law enforcement officials at the Puskarich Library last Monday, where discussions ranged from obeying traffic rules to assistance from community safety forces during emergencies.
Myers said he conducted an 11-day traffic study in November in Scio, where the Utica East Ohio Buckeye Harrison Hub facility is under construction, and determined that 31,182 vehicles traveled one way through that area since the plant project began. He noted that many more were on the road before he started the review and more data collected in December showed about 25,000 vehicles en route. Myers added that possibly 30 percent of the cars counted were patronizing the nearby American Legion or Scio Pottery.
Another session was being planned for Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. at the Cadiz library. Below, one of many trucks working on the UEO Buckeye plant in Scio makes its way through town.
