MarkWest expanding offices
CADIZ- MarkWest Energy is already outgrowing its administrative office and is seeking more space near its cryogenic plant at the Cadiz/Harrison County Industrial Park.
Administrative Assistant Missy Yoho approached village council during a session on Wednesday and asked to utilize five acres across from the plant along Industrial Park Road. Yoho told officials the office at Main and Market streets was burgeoning with workers and was lacking room.
“Due to the growth at MarkWest, our admin office that we have uptown, we’ve outgrown it,” she said. “We’re having negotiations with [village Community Improvement Corp. member Ken] Mason and Mayor Zitko to purchase approximately five acres across from the plant. We’re just looking for options to build a new admin office. With the growth we’re having right now, we have exhausted everything. We really want to stay in Harrison County and we really want to stay in Cadiz, so we’re coming to council to try to get approval to purchase the five acres.”
Yoho later told the News-Herald that 30 people are employed at the office and a group of workers travel from Pittsburgh several times a week, creating some cramped space at the present building. She added the new structure would be an extension of that site. Hopes are to have the new building completed by the end of this year.
