CADIZ – These creative ladies used their talents during a  painting class offered as a fund raising activity for the American Cancer Society’s Harrison County Relay for Life.

Most of the group will be participating in the June 8 and 9 annual Relay for Life, which will be held at Wallace Lodge in Sally Buffalo Park Cadiz.

An opening ceremony is set for 6 p.m. on Friday. A survivor’s lap around the lake will follow and a dinner for those participants will also be held.
Registration will begin at 4 p.m. or may be completed by visiting www.relayforlife/org/harrisoncounty or the day of the event. A luminaria ceremony will be held at dusk to honor those who have or are battling cancer. Luminaria may be purchased for $10 in memory or honor of a loved one by visiting the Relay’s Web site.

Activities at the celebration beginning at 4 p.m. will include inflatable ride, a deejay, a balloon artist, face painting, concessions along with theme laps, silent auction, lip sync competition and much more. The band “Chameleon” will play from 9-11:30 p.m. A “Shoot Out Cancer” basketball contest will be held at the basketball courts near Mazeroski Field at the park beginning at 7 p.m. All ages are welcome with awards presented by age groups. Competition will be in hot shots, free throws and three-point shots with a $1 entry fee by category. To register, call or text Sarah at 740-491-1205.

Harrison County Farm Bureau will also be selling chicken dinners.
On Saturday morning, the Cadiz Lions Club will serve breakfast with donations excepted.

All activities are open to the public and proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society, Harrison County Relay for Life. Bring your lawn chairs for seating.
