Hervey, Washington move up in courts
CADIZ – Changes are happening in the Harrison County Prosecutor’s office following the recent promotions of Shawn Hervey and Michael Washington.
Hervey, the longtime county prosecutor, recently resigned to helm the county Common Pleas Court General and Domestic Relations Divisions following the retirement of Michael Nunner. Hervey was appointed to the post by Gov. John Kasich and took over the post on June 7, leaving assistant prosecutor Washington to head the office. He swore his former assistant in as acting prosecutor in the common pleas courtroom using an 1870’s Bible that has been part of similar ceremonies in previous generations. Washington was first appointed during a special session by county commissioners on last Friday and will remain in the seat for the time being.
Hervey was excited about his new opportunity to sit on the bench.
“I’m honored and humbled by the appointment by Gov. Kasich to the Harrison County Common Pleas Court bench,” he said.
