CADIZ – Kaci Carter, winner of the 2013 Ohio State Fair grand champion market turkey, hosted a banquet on Sunday, Sept. 1, at the Harrison County Fairgrounds to honor the 12 local businesses that pulled together to purchase her prize-winning turkey for a record setting price of $13,000. The bird and other delicious foods were served to the owners of the companies and their families as a special thank you. There was a great sense of pride at the celebration, not only from the Carter family, but from those who contributed as well. Kaci gave a heartfelt speech thanking the businesses for their support and commitment to breaking the past years record bid of $11,500. “Seeing familiar faces walk up on stage [after the bidding winner was announced] was the best part [of winning],” said Carter.
These 12 companies are now recognized across the county, state and nation for their successful bid. A special thanks goes out to: CBC Pipeline, D&J Sales & Service, Seleski Broiler Farm, Cadiz Animal Clinic, D&E Electric, Eberhart Service Center, Joe Myers Harrison Co. Sheriff, Willoughby & Co., Clay’s Drive-In, Toland Trucking, County Commissioners (Dale Norris, Don Bethel & Bill Host), & MarkWest Energy Partners.
