The Cadiz Volunteer Fire Department is gearing up for its Seventh Annual Fireman’s Fair on Sept. 21, which will feature some new and returning activities.
Organizers said the day includes a 5K race along North Main Street at 8 a.m., cornhole tournament at 2 p.m., chicken dinner benefit, plenty of food, music, inflatable rides from 5-8 p.m., a parade with lineup beginning at 5 p.m. and starting an hour later, and the popular water battle kicks off immediately following.
About 18 children are eying a place as fair royalty and will also be named that evening at 7 p.m. along with raffle winners.
The fair is the department’s main fundraiser and John Vermillion, the events chairman, said proceeds benefit operations and other needs.
“We’re looking at possibly getting a new fire truck in the next couple years and for ongoing training that can be expensive,” he said.
For more information or chicken dinner tickets, contact Vermillion at 740-491-7098.
