JEWETT – Jewett and members of the Jewett Wildcat Community Center (JWCC) are busy preparing their annual Haunted House. Doors will open to the public at 6:30 p.m. on October 18, 19, 25, 26, 30 and 31. Prices this year are $5 for children and $10 for adults, and they are also offering a family group package for four for $25. They will have a concession stand open for those who may be interested.

JWCC invites you to join its group on Facebook, where you may ask questions and find additional information. Also, members would like to remind the public that they are welcoming any and all help from volunteers, of any age. If you are interested in being a part of the annual event, please contact Tammy Dray at 740-946-7941 or Greg Tullis at 740-945-5131.

How well I remember when the new gymnasium was built, taking away our swing sets, those hedges which fronted Main Street. All the scrapes, escapades of youngsters in grade 2, taught or tolerated by the late Miss Barr whom I believe was a prime example that women of her age should have had more career choices. It was clear to some of the parents of my classmates that Miss Barr was near the end of her tether, counting down the days if not years until she could walk away from the blackboard.
