CADIZ – The Scott Memorial United Methodist Church is preparing for another year of pre-school.

Jennifer Blackburn is the lead teacher and administrator and will be there this fall to make sure it is all fun at their Promiseland Pre-school.

An open house and orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Eighteen children are expected to enroll this fall, according to Blackburn. Classes will begin September 2 and the curriculum, will lean on bible stories and verses, but will also emphasize the basics such as, letters and numbers and social skills.

Blackburn said that pre-school is really encouraged nowadays.

“We want to get more kids in,” she said.

The 18 children will be broken up into two classes: Tuesdays and Thursdays will consist of three-year olds from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The fee for this group is $70 per month.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be for the four and five-year olds, or pre-K, according to Blackburn. Their time will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and that will be $90 per month.

There will also be a $25 to sign up for classes.

Blackburn encourages open house and orientation be open to the public and returning families.

“We have a lot of fun activities planned,” she said, “and are looking forward to another exciting year.”
