Raymond M. “Sonny” Brooks, 76, of Cadiz, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 23, at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville, Ohio. He was born Sept. 5, 1938 in Cadiz, Ohio a son of the late Raymond Russell and Anna Jackson Brooks.
Sonny was a retired employee of Y & O Nelms #2 Mine and the Village of Cadiz Street Department. He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Cadiz. He was an avid fan of the Cadiz Cardinal Wrestling and Football teams and a Steelers Fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Douglas Brooks; a daughter, Edith Brooks and a sister, Ruth Ramsey. Surviving are his wife, Donna Jones Brooks; four sons, Michael “Bam Bam” (Bobbi Jo) Brooks and Mark (Stephanie) Brooks all of Cadiz, Todd Brooks of Cleveland, Texas and Matthew Brooks of Cadiz; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday, 5-8 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church, Cadiz with Rev. William Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
