SCIO – The mandated boil order for Scio is now over. Mayor, Michelle Carpenter stated that a leak at the plant was the culprit and when there is a shutdown for repair, the EPA requires by law that the village instill a 48-hour boil order.
Carpenter also wanted to put to rest some rumors floating around that there was algae in the water but that was not true. It was just a leak that forced the repair, thereby forcing the boil order.
Village Administrator, Jason Tubaugh stated that on Sunday a 4-inch water line break was discovered “at the flange.”
“Repairs were done May 7th, the plant was back in operation at 1:50 a.m. May 8th,” Tubaugh said as part of his bi-monthly report at Wednesday’s council meeting.
SCIO – Details are unknown at this time but one village official was contacted who confirmed that the village of Scio is under a 48-hour boil water emergency as of Monday. The official said it should continue for at least another 24 hours.
More details to come.
