Carroll County Supreme Champion chosen

CARROLLTON – Judge Sherry Smith tapped San Mar Holsteins Grand Champion Holstein Cow as the Supreme Champion at the Open Class Dairy Show held July 20, 2010, at the Carroll County Fair, Carrollton, Ohio. The Reserve Supreme Champion was the Guernsey Champion shown by Triple J Guernseys. The Supreme Junior Champion was the Jersey Junior Champion shown by Bryce Sanor, Homeworth, Ohio.

In the Open Class Jersey Show the Junior Champion honors went to the Spring Heifer Calf shown by Bryce Sanor, Homeworth, Ohio. Reserve was the Spring Yearling shown by Kenneth Rummell, Paris, Ohio. Senior and Grand Champion Jersey was shown by Lee Rummell and Family, Carrollton, Ohio. The Reserve Grand Champion was shown by Kenneth Rummell.

Receiving the Junior Champion Rosette in the Holstein Show was the Spring Yearling Heifer and Reserve Junior Champion was the Winter Calf. Both were shown by Bryce Sanor, Homeworth, Ohio. The Aged Cow shown by San-Mar Holsteins, Mark and Sandy Bardall, Tippecanoe, Ohio, was chosen as the Senior and Grand Champion in the Holstein Show. They also captured Reserve Grand Champion honors with their Four Year Old Cow.

In the Red and White Show John Neider and Family, Carrollton, Ohio, won the Junior Champion ribbon with their Fall Calf and the Reserve Junior Champion with the Winter Calf. They also won the Senior and Grand Champion Rosettes with their Aged Cow. The Reserve went to Mark and Sandy Bardall’s Five Year Old Cow.

Junior Champion in the Milking Shorthorn Show was the Spring Heifer Calf shown by Jacob Baker, Bakers Acres, Kensington, Ohio. The Winter Calf was the Reserve Junior Champion and was shown by John Neider and Family, Carrollton, Ohio.   Senior and Grand Champion was the Senior Two Year Old shown by the Neider Family. Reserve was the Junior Two Year Old Cow shown by Sabrina Eick, Minerva, Ohio.

The Junior Champion in the Guernsey Show was the Winter Calf and the Reserve Junior Champion was the Fall Calf. Both were shown by Triple J Guernseys, Salem, Ohio. Senior and Grand Champion in the Guernsey Show was the Four Year Old Cow shown by Triple J Guernseys.

The Brown Swiss Junior Champion was the Fall Heifer Calf shown by Mark Owen.  Reserve was the Senior Yearling shown by Lee Rummell and Family, Carrollton, Ohio. Senior and Grand Champion Brown Swiss was the Senior Two Year Old Cow shown by Wild Duck Hollow, Mike, Sue, and J.D. Little, East Rochester, Ohio.  Reserve was the Junior Three Year Old shown by Lee Rummell and Family.

Winning Junior Champion honors in the Ayrshire Show was the Senior Yearling shown by Bryce Sanor, Homeworth, Ohio. Reserve Junior Champion was the Fall Calf shown by J.D. Little, Wild Duck Hollow, East Rochester, Ohio. Senior and Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion winners were the Five Year Old and Aged Cows shown by Moorman Hill Farm, Bloomingdale, Ohio.

The Carroll County Dairy Promotion Board managed the show. Approximately 120 head were shown. Jim Long, Carrollton, Ohio is head of the Dairy Cattle Department for the Carroll County Agricultural Society.  Submitted by Barb Lumley.
