Harrison Central’s basketball season came to an end with a loss in the sectional tournament to Steubenville. The Huskies beat Big Red in Steubenville earlier this year by eight-points, but fell short in the playoffs with a chance to move onto the sectional final game against Carrollton.
After a slow start, the Huskies outscored Big Red 18-8 in the second quarter to go into the half with a 34-31 lead. “We recovered in the second quarter and our shots started to fall,” said Coach Justin Clifford.
The rest of the game was fought tooth and nail as Big Red came back in the second half. The two teams traded baskets at both ends of the floor and it seemed as if neither team could miss.
In the final seconds of the game Nick Pelegreen grabbed a rebound and threw up a last ditch shot that went wide and the game ended with Steubenville ahead 58-57. “We played well and they gave everything that they had, it’s a shame to see it end like this. We had a great year, and accomplished more than most expected us to. I am proud of the boys and they should definitely be proud of themselves,” said Coach Clifford after the game.
A complete article on the Huskies sectional elimination to Steubenville Big Red will appear in the Mar. 6 edition of the Harrison News-Herald.

Good season Huskies! To bad you don't have a better following; the stands are nearly empty especially for a playoff game!
