I can remember a few Christmas shopping trips to Cadiz; fondly remember the toys that used to appear in the basement of the now departed Western Auto Store on Main Street, those decorations that were put up on Main Street and the window displays at the Custer Pharmacy. But most of all I remember those visits to my Grandparent's farm on U.S. 22, a few miles out of Cadiz. That bumpy lane that never was smoothed out and my grandfather's livestock grazing near the old sheep barn. So much of what I would have experienced as a young boy no longer exists, including the house and buildings that once belonged to my grandparents.
Even though I have lived out of region for many decades, those childhood memories are too happy and comfortable to ever forget.
