CDBG funds sought for local projects

CADIZ – Harrison County is seeking an estimated $80,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds to help complete some much-needed area projects.

County Community Improvement Corp. Program Administrator Jody Hennis conducted a public hearing during the regular commission meeting Wednesday and said the county intended to apply to the Ohio Department of Development for federal funding. Officials are seeking money through the CDBG, Ohio Housing Trust Fund (OHTF) and HOME programs that are administered through the state.

“We’re having a hearing on 2011 grants,” she said. “We’ve mailed applications to every village, township, fire department and points of interest such as museums.”
