ADENA – Due to increased complaints from residents, council added a part-time officer to the village police department at its meeting last week. Police Chief Bob Walton noted that while he has been able to take care of the tire slashing incidents in town, the threat of metal thieves rummaging through properties, especially at night, has made it apparent that he needs additional help on the force.
Adena Police Chief Bob Walton (pictured right) introduced Martins Ferry police officer Tom Riedel to village officials for consideration for the part-time position. Riedel was later approved for the position and sworn in by Mayor Raymond Jeskey.
