Special walk fulfills promise

SCIO – Following this year’s theme, “It Takes A Community to Fight Cancer,” hundreds of people turned out for the annual Relay For Life of Harrison County on June 10 at James Z. Scott Memorial Field.

Pictured above, cancer survivor Zack Jones, of Freeport, was joined by nurses Sue Pantuso, left, and Brandy Vandeborne for the ceremonial walk at Relay For Life in Scio. Jones said the staff at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh became like family during his months-long treatment for a rare liver disease, while the women were moved by his invitation to participate in local festivities.

The celebration of life is featured in this weeks print edition of the Harrison News-Herald.

    1. Zack Jones:
Even across the continent, in far away Seattle, prayers were offered for the recovery of Zack Jones.
I didn’t clear the Harrison News Herald from my computer and when I opened my laptop, to connect with my e-mail service, there was the article about that Cancer Relay and a picture of Zack Jones.
I must make some phone calls to interested parties in this city to spread the good news.
His parents and family, his community must be very happy to see this outcome—-we certainly are.
