The 33rd Annual Unionport Apple Stirrin’ Time is back on Oct. 15-16, and the crowd pleaser is offering up lots of fun and food during the fall festival. Sponsored by the Unionport Grange No. 2728, the event will provide plenty to do on the grounds along Jefferson County Road 39 outside of Bloomingdale.
The festival will include entertainment, a car cruise, apple pie contest, crafts, plenty of delicious taste treats and much more. The community affair has been known to multiply the towns inhabitants from 300 to about 3,000 during the two-day celebration
Bonnie Ault, one of the organizers, said volunteers have been prepping pomes at the site over a period of several weeks and will keep the kettles cooking this weekend. The apples slow cook over an open flame for hours and are poured into jars for sale. About 130 gallons of apple butter is prepared and generally sells out at the event’s conclusion.
