A heartwarming gift

While U.S. Army Sgt. Travis Curry of Jewett spent a year in Kuwait with Operation New Dawn (September 2010- August 2011) at Camp Arifjan, his thoughts were often on family and friends back home. Upon learning of some of his childhood friends parents’ business endeavor, Travis came up with the perfect “Bar-warming” present to show his gratitude for all they had done for him over the years, the flag that was flown over his camp in early May of 2011.

Last Monday evening, he and members of Jewett VFW Post 3072 dedicated the flag and a special medal to the foursome stating, “The flag was flown in honor of Roger and Janet Walters and Dean and Linda Ager for their support of the 197th Fires Brigade and Operation New Dawn.” Pictured above (l-r) are: Linda and Dean Ager, Sgt. Travis Curry, and Janet and Roger Walters. The flag, medal, and a letter that Curry sent to the group will be displayed at Ja-Lin’s in Jewett.  NH Photo/KATINA WATT
