Gooding installed as Master of Flushing Lodge #298
FLUSHING – Richard Gooding of Cadiz was installed as Master of Flushing Lodge #298 by Thomas Bugala, Past Master of Flushing Lodge and present District Deputy Grand Master of the 23rd Masonic District. This 154th annual open installation of officers was held at the Flushing Masonic Lodge.
In his position as Master, Gooding is the presiding officer and head of the Lodge. The title “Master,” instead of “President,” reflects the Masonic tradition of using ceremonies and titles from the stonemasons of the middle Ages. When the great cathedrals of Europe were being built, the Mason in charge of a building site was referred to as the “master of the work.”
Other officers installed during the ceremony were: Richard Bradley, Senior Warden; Richard Kidd, Junior Warden; William McGowan, Treasurer; Charles Bizzari, Secretary; Daryl Hittle, Chaplain; Patrick Dubiel, Senior Deacon; John Lovejoy, Junior Deacon; Greg Starcher, Tyler; Brandt Mazeroski, Senior Steward; and Donald Rogers, Junior Steward.
