The final two sessions of a month-long Beef Management School sponsored by Ohio State University Extension for area beef producers will be held in Bloomingdale and Cadiz. On Thursday, February 16, 2012, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Jefferson JVS near Bloomingdale, the topic of “Genetics, Reproductive Efficiencies & Calving Season Alternatives” will be addressed by Dr Les Anderson, Extension Beef Specialist at the University of Kentucky and John Grimes, OSU Extension Beef programs Coordinator. Refreshments will be served by the Carroll County Cattlemen’s Association following the presentation.
The Beef School will conclude on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Harrison Career Center in Cadiz, with the topic of “Efficiencies, Costs of Production and Backgrounding Opportunities for Beef Producers” presented by Nevil Speer, PhD, MBA at Western Kentucky University. Following this presentation, the Jefferson County Cattlemen’s Association will hold a general membership meeting at the Career Center. Refreshments will be served by the Tri-County Cattlemen’s Association.
Registration for each session of the Beef School is just $2.00 for members of the Jefferson and Carroll County Cattlemen’s Associations and $3.00 for non-members.
