Astronomy club to celebrate Earth Day

WILMOT – The Wilderness Center Astronomy Club (WCAC) will be holding a free, public star party beginning at 8:30 p.m. on April 21, 2012. Telescopes will be available for viewing the night sky and club members will be on hand to assist and answer questions. Guests may also bring their own telescopes and/or binoculars.

The event will be held at The Wilderness Center’s observatory in the Astronomy Education Building located at 9877 Alabama Avenue SW in Wilmot. “The April Lyrid Meteor Shower will be at their peak, so it should be a great evening for ‘shooting stars,'” said WCAC president, John Waechter. “And what better way to conclude a fun-filled Earth Day Celebration at The Wilderness Center than by gazing at the stars!”

The Wilderness Center Astronomy Club is a family oriented group of amateurs with a broad range of experience and interest. WCAC’s charter is to promote the knowledge and enjoyment of astronomy among club members, The Wilderness Center, and the Northeast Ohio Community at large.
