Rogers named Hometown Hero

Fifteen-year-old Donnie Rogers, of Cadiz, was named Harrison County Hometown Hero for his longtime volunteerism at the Cadiz Food Pantry. The Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross lauded recipients from Carroll, Harrison and Tuscarawas counties on April 12 during an event at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center in Dover.

Betty Morris co-director of the Cadiz Food Pantry, said Rogers epitomizes just what a hero is. “He thinks it’s someone who goes and saves a life,” she said, then gestured to a poster that she believes best describes him. It reads, in part, ”I do not know how long I’ll live, but while I live, Lord, let me give.”

“I think this is Donnie. I think Donnie’s very giving and kind,” she added.
