A dozen people gathered at the New Athens Volunteer Fire Department on Wednesday to give their input on the U.S. Postal Service’s plans to reduce time to four hours per day at the village’s facility. Surveys sent to the community showed 95 percent in favor of reduced hours to keep the site open, but people attending the session were not keen about a split timeframe of 8-10 a.m. and 2-4 p.m.
A decision could come after the holidays.
