Alice May Palmer, 83, Dennison, died on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Aultman Hospital
in Canton, following a lengthy illness.
Born May 4, 1926 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late
Anthony and Edith (Gebelin ) Visintainer .
Alice grew up in the Twin City area and was the Clay Queen in
1950. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Dennison
in the class of 1944 and had been looking forward to joining
her classmates at their sixty-fifth reunion in August. In her
younger years, she worked at the former United Bank in Uhrichsville,
as well as for the 250 Truckstop for a number of years.
On October 30, 1957 , Alice married William Wesley Palmer, who
survives her. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother
and homemaker to her family which includes a son, Michael A.
Palmer and his wife, Susan (Beck), of Dennison; three daughters,
Licia J. Palmer and her husband, Darrin Petrey , of Newark, Ohio;
Denee M. Burton and her husband, Steve, of Belpre; and Renee
H. Palmer of the home; seven grandchildren, Joseph Anthony "Tony"
Palmer, Phylicia M. Campbell, April A. Palmer, Summer M. Petrey
, Tyler McMahan, Alexis Palmer and Miranda Burton; and a great
granddaughter, Zoey Campbell.
Alice is also survived by a brother, Robert Visintainer and his
wife, Bea, of Georgia; a sister, Joyce Choquette and her husband,
Tom, of Cincinnati and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice and her family made their home in Newark from 1969 to 1993,
during which time she worked for Denison University and Newark
Public Schools for their libraries. She was a member of St. Leonard
's Catholic Church in Heath and its Altar Society.
Since returning to the area of her youth, she and Bill had lived
near Bowerston where she has been a member of the Bowerston Women's
club. She is also a member of Immaculate Conception Church in
Dennison and its Altar Society.
Services, officiated by Father Bill Arnold, were held at 9 a.m.
on July 2, at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment followed
in Tunnel Hill Cemetery near Bowerston .

Carl Johnson Jr., 81, Carrollton, died June 25, 2009 at
Aultman Hospital in Canton.
He was born June 5, 1928, in Harrisville, a son of the late Carl
and Margaret Easthom Johnson.
He was a member of the Kilgore United Methodist Church. He was
also a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four
brothers, Melvin, Kenneth, Raymond and James.
Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Slates, whom he married
Sept. 5, 1953; a son, Troy C. (Shannon) Johnson of Massillon;
three daughters, Brenda Stone of Massillon, Tierney (Thomas)
Breckenridge and Kristi Wallen both of Canton; four grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Honnie and Gene Smith,
Elizabeth Deaton both of New Athens and Shirley and Dick Kull
of Cuyahoga Falls.
A memorial service was held on July 1 in the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral
Home, Carrollton.
Edward C. Roghelia, 60, Hopedale, died June 25, 2009 in the Carriage Inn of Cadiz
after a long illness.
He was born Jan. 13, 1949 in Steubenville, a son of the late
Ernest and Sylvia Gibbons Roghelia.
Some of his favorite past times were watching the "Price
is Right" and helping coach the biddy league team in Cadiz,
two of his dear friends were Tyler Evans (a team player) and
Mackenize Evans of Cadiz.
He is survived by a son Sean Roghelia of North Carolina; two
brothers, Ernest (Lynette) Roghelia of Hopedale, Dean (Kathy)
Roghelia of Unionport; two sisters, Jean (Chuck) Hayes of Cadiz,
Brenda Campise of Freeport.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 29, 2009 at Blackburn
Funeral Home, Hopedale with Pastor Dean Blythe officiating. Burial
in Hopedale Cemetery.
Vivian G. Snyder, 89, Reynoldsburg,
formerly of the Jewett/Scio area,
died at her home June 25, 2009.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother,
who loved being with her family and making everyone smile.
She was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses, Reynoldsburg Congregation.
She was preceded in death by her brothers; Wesley and Harry Ferrell
and sisters, Connie Barnes, Naomi Shultz, Mary Gotschall and
Gwendolyn Lucas.
Surviving are her children Charles, Carl (Karen), Nancy (Keith),
Henry, Dorothy Smith, Richard (Lynne), Donald, Suvan (Miro) Kowalenko
and Suzette Million; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;
sister, Gretchen Miller; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were held June 28, 2009 at Dwayne R. Spence Funeral
Home, Pickerington. Interment in Violet Cemetery. Contributions
may be made to the World Wide Preaching Fund, American Cancer
Society, American Heart Association or Mt. Carmel Hospice in
her memory.
